Saturday, December 22, 20123comments

This majestic fort is perched on a hill top and affords a commanding view of the sprawling city below. It is the third of the hill top forts guarding the jaipur city with its crenellated walls running along the ridge. The fort was initially built by Sawai Jai Singh in 1734 and was subsequently developed by Sawai Ram Singh. After the foundation of jaipur as the new capital of Kacchawahas, the fort was used for summer excursions and picnic by the royal family. Latar on, beautiful gardens and pavilions were added to the fort. The fort house architectural beauties like Hawa mandir and Madhavendra Bhawan which revives the grandeur of bygone era, but today some parts of the fort lie in ruins.

The durg cafeteria run by RTDC provides delicious snacks. Which encourages visitors for an evening drive to this excellent spot.
